The battle for the WOAN (Wireless Open Access Network) has been pursued by PBICT on a continuous bases. The importance of the WOAN will impact the price of the internet penetration in South Africa. PBICT has one position, Access and Ownership. As PBICT we are very clear that we want black owned SMMEs especially the PBICT members to participate in the telecom space as we rid the industry of giant monopolies and gatekeeping. We will continue fighting this battle until it is won. We will never give up on our members who want to get into this space and those who have knowledge of this space.

As part of our 4IR programmes our PEC and members in Gauteng have hosted the first Bootcamp in Telecoms to up skill PBICT members. These will be hosted nation-wide to help members up skill to fast track their entry in to the industry.

It is very clear that access to spectrum will allow us to have more players in the telecoms space and thus reduce the cost of internet.
